David Tominsky is an entrepreneur and community builder based in Cedar Rapids Iowa. He is currently serving as the Program Manager for the Iowa Startup Accelerator, the first intensive, time-boxed tech startup accelerator in Iowa. Tominsky had a 15-year career in the technical staffing industry before joining the the Iowa Startup Accelerator. His work involved recruiting highly skilled technical talent for critical positions in Iowa-based companies. Tominsky is a leader in the local startup community having organized events like Iowa's Creative Corridor Open Coffee Series, BarcampICR, Startup Weekend Cedar Rapids, Startup Weekend Iowa City, and the annual Caine's Arcade Global Cardboard Challenge. He has helped launch several PreK-12 STEM chapters like Coder Dojo Cedar Rapids, Imagination Foundation Cedar Rapids, and littleBits Cedar Rapids where he serves as a Lead Organizer and Mentor. As the Program Manager for the Iowa Startup Accelerator, he was helped lead the program that in 2014 brought 10 teams from around the world, including Australia, Israel, Texas, New York, Kansas, California, Delaware, and Iowa, for a 94-day program running August 4 through November 6, 2014. He is leading the recruiting process for the 2015 program which opened application on February 2, 2015 and will close them on June 2, 2015. The 2015 program will begin on August 3rd and run through November 5th.
I am the regional director of the Kirkwood SBDC and work with entrepreneurs on their startup and growth planning.
I am an Event Coordinator at the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center. I organize and coordinate our statewide entrepreneurial training program, Venture School.
