Dale Fickett

Dale Fickett serves as RVA Works’ president & co-founder, and as an Independent Advisor Representative at Barrett Capital Management, a Registered Investment Advisor. At RVA Works he holds overall responsibility for the organization’s pursuit of its mission to help more people become business owners. RVA Works is a Public Charity providing education, technology, capital and consulting through a national network of over 50 program sponsors and volunteers. Fickett also serves as Chairman of the Haiti Committee - a humanitarian mission of the Catholic Church, providing microloans, education and health care in Carissade, Haiti. Fickett has previously worked in Capital Markets and Transactions Banking during his tenure with Accenture. As a strategy consultant, based in Dublin and London, he developed new client relationships, led strategic planning, and IT transformation programs in multinational banks. He has lectured and conducted related research at Trinity College Dublin, The Wharton School - University of Pennsylvania, Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Virginia, and Northwestern University. He recently co-authored "RVA Works: Empowering Entrepreneurs for Big Change" He has also authored "Faith & Sustainable Economic Development," “Towards a More Just Economy” and co-authored both “Developmental Entrepreneurship in Sub-Saharan Africa: Assessing Financial and Social Returns” and "RVA Works - Empowering Entrepreneurs for Big Change." He served in economic advisory roles on the Governor's Social Enterprise and Impact Investing Working Group (Virginia), the U.S. Senate Small Business Productivity Award Panel, the Virginia Business Incubation Association, and the Virginia Catholic Conference. An entrepreneur at heart, earlier in his career he launched a venture in the retail chocolate industry. He holds an MBA magna cum laude, Villanova University, and a BSBA cum laude, LaSalle University.

Ian Young organizes the RVA Social Entrepreneurs Meetup Group, a community of 250+ passionate entrepreneurs in Richmond, Va. (RVA) committed to the belief that our enterprises can be vehicles for positive social change.

John Marin

I enjoy helping entrepreneurs, business leaders, and students achieve their goals. I’m a partner at Laborem Edge Digital Marketing Agency, which helps talented and passionate businesses grow by providing proven digital marketing methods for consistent lead generation. All our efforts are focused on our client’s return on investment (ROI). If we can't demonstrate how you will profit from our efforts up-front, we will do our best to talk you out of working with us. I specialize in paid search advertising, paid social advertising, reputation management, website design, lead nurturing, and brand management. I’ve also served in sales, investor relations, and video production roles throughout the years. I’m also passionate about community involvement, donating time to 1 Million Cups, Rotary Club, and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Business student programs. I earned a B.S. in Marketing from the VCU School of Business and a minor in Product Innovation from the Da Vinci Center. Michael Time, M.D. is a motivational speaker, educator, philanthropist, physician, Brown University alumnus, and CEO of the Honor Loan® Entrepreneurship Program, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit initiative whose mission is to promote, support, foster, and advance entrepreneurship education and activities for students and adults of all ages.
